LET’S MAKE IT
Step by step
- 01
In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, garlic powder, halal Worcestershire sauce, and half a teaspoon of salt, then shape into 4 flat patties.
- 02
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
- 03
Add thinly sliced onions and sauté for 5 minutes until tender and light brown, then push them to the sides of the skillet.
- 04
Place beef patties in the center of the skillet and sear for 4 minutes per side until browned and thoroughly cooked.
- 05
Top each patty with sliced pickled beetroot and a slice of cheddar cheese, cover the pan for 1 to 2 minutes to melt cheese, then transfer patties and onions to serving plates.
- 06
Add remaining olive oil to the skillet, fry eggs sunny-side up for 2 to 3 minutes, and crown each cheesy patty with a fried egg.
A LITTLE KITCHEN KNOW-HOW
Skillet Layering
Building a complete meal in a single pan by browning proteins, caramelizing aromatics, melting cheese, and finishing with fried toppers.
Notes from the kitchen
- Thoroughly pat pickled beetroot slices dry with paper towels to prevent excess liquid from splashing in the pan.
- Use low to medium heat when melting cheese under the cover to avoid overcooking the bottom of patties.
- Original home-cooking adaptation inspired by Australian; regional versions vary.
- Use halal-certified meat, poultry, stock, sauces, cheese and other processed ingredients. Check labels and avoid cross-contamination. Recipe screening is not halal certification.
