LET’S MAKE IT

Step by step

  1. 01

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and lightly brush a baking dish with olive oil.

  2. 02

Pat cod fillets completely dry with paper towels and arrange in a single layer in the baking dish.

  3. 03

In a medium bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs, melted unsalted butter, English mustard, chopped parsley, lemon zest, and garlic powder.

  4. 04

Divide the crumb mixture evenly over each cod fillet, pressing down lightly so the crust adheres to the top.

  5. 05

Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes until the breadcrumbs are golden brown and the fish flakes easily with a fork.

A LITTLE KITCHEN KNOW-HOW

Gratinated Baking

Baking protein under a buttered breadcrumb coating so the top crisps into a crust while keeping the fish moist.

Notes from the kitchen

  • Thoroughly dry the fish before adding crumbs to ensure the crust bakes crisp instead of steamed.
  • A quick squeeze of fresh lemon juice just before eating cuts through the butter crispiness nicely.
  • Original home-cooking adaptation inspired by British; regional versions vary.
  • Use halal-certified meat, poultry, stock, sauces, cheese and other processed ingredients. Check labels and avoid cross-contamination. Recipe screening is not halal certification.
