LET’S MAKE IT

Step by step

  1. 01

Pat shrimp dry with paper towels and toss in a bowl with all-purpose flour, paprika, half teaspoon salt, and quarter teaspoon black pepper.

  2. 02

Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  3. 03

Add flour-dusted shrimp in an even single layer and sear for 2 minutes until bottom side turns golden.

  4. 04

Flip shrimp over, add remaining 3 tablespoons butter and minced garlic directly into pan center, reducing heat to medium.

  5. 05

Sauté garlic gently alongside shrimp for 2 to 3 minutes until garlic is fragrant and golden without burning.

  6. 06

Pour fresh lemon juice across skillet, scraping up any delicious browned bits from pan floor.concept

  7. 07

Remove skillet from heat as soon as shrimp are completely opaque and pink.

  8. 08

Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve immediately alongside white rice.

A LITTLE KITCHEN KNOW-HOW

Garlic Basting

Cooking protein gently in melted fat with abundant minced garlic so flavor penetrates without burning the garlic solids.

Notes from the kitchen

  • Watch minced garlic carefully once added; medium heat prevents butter from scorching.
  • Leave tail shells on shrimp for enhanced flavor during searing.
  • Original home-cooking adaptation inspired by Hawaiian; regional versions vary.
  • Use halal-certified meat, poultry, stock, sauces, cheese and other processed ingredients. Check labels and avoid cross-contamination. Recipe screening is not halal certification.
